Records Management
Records Management
THREE YEARS
Four Exceptions:
1. ON THE SCHEDULE: Certain records may require different (either longer or shorter) retention periods because of corporate practice or laws. Those records are listed on a schedule to the Policy, which is an integral part of the Policy and should always be consulted as you manage your records to see if a specific exception applies.
2. GOVERNED BY CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATION: A different retention period may be required by contractual obligations to Unisys customers.
3. UNDER DIRECTION OF THE OGC: If a lawsuit or an investigation is imminent or pending, you should not destroy or discard records. Generally, the Office of General Counsel (OGC) will contact you in this circumstance. However, in the event that you are aware of an investigation or lawsuit, and have not received a notice from the OGC, you should contact an OGC attorney, retain all relevant records, and wait for instructions from the OGC.
4. GOVERNED BY A COUNTRY-SPECIFIC RETENTION PERIOD: For many non-U.S. subsidiaries, there are different retention periods for certain records. You can find out about country-specific exceptions on the dotcom Policy and Procedures page, where the global Records Management Policy is located.
